Elephant Path is a unique farmstay in Habarana, Sri Lanka. The property has its own plantation and paddy field, and is set in authentic village surroundings — perfect for travellers who want a peaceful countryside escape rather than a typical hotel.
What makes a farmstay different from a hotel?+
At a farmstay you’re staying in a real working environment — our plantation and paddy field are part of daily rural Sri Lankan life. You’ll wake up to birdsong, see traditional farming up close, and meet the village. It’s an experience as much as accommodation.
How close is Sigiriya Rock?+
Sigiriya Rock Fortress is about 30 minutes’ drive away. We can arrange a tuk-tuk, car or pre-dawn pickup so you reach the entrance before opening at 7 AM.
Can you arrange a safari to Minneriya or Kaudulla?+
Yes. We work with trusted local jeep drivers and arrange safaris into Minneriya, Kaudulla or Hurulu Eco Park (depending on the season and where the elephants are gathering). Safaris run morning and afternoon, last 3–4 hours, and pickup is from your room.
What is the Habarana village tour?+
The Habarana village tour is a popular half-day cultural experience — visitors travel by tuk-tuk and bullock cart through paddy fields, take a catamaran ride on the village lake, and have a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. Our property is one of the official stops where guests experience traditional farming life. Staying with us gives you a deeper version of the same experience.
What time is check-in and check-out?+
Check-in is from 02:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in (great after a long drive from Colombo) and late check-out are usually possible — just ask.
Is breakfast included?+
Yes — Bed and Breakfast is part of every stay. We can also pack a takeaway breakfast box if you have an early Sigiriya climb or pre-dawn safari.
Is the property family and child friendly?+
Yes, very. Kids love the paddy field, the birds and the safari. We’re happy to organise gentler activities like village tuk-tuk tours, simple cooking demos and bird walks.
